How to Run a Volcano Test[]
The "Volcano Test" was inspired by @kingdomakrillic's Modifier comparison chart. The idea is to see what impact a solitary artist's name has - without any other influences.
Most of the comparisons here were run using NightCafe Studio, but other AI art generators can be used as well. If you use an alternate service, please note that in the image filename / caption like so: "Monet - Wombo"
- Use "Artistic" mode (VQGAN+CLIP)
- Set seed to 0 (not strictly required)
- Prompt: "Volcano, by ________" (fill in with your artist)
If results wildly differ from the vanilla volcano render, you can submit the link in the comments or add it directly using the following instructions.
Uploading Your Images[]
At this time, it's easiest to upload images via desktop (although it may be possible to upload single images via mobile).
Filenames[]
The file should be in the format Volcano, by Artist.
You can change the filename before or after uploading the image.
Single Image Upload[]
- This is easiest to do in the Source Editor. In the editing pane of the Artist Directory, click the eye that says Visual Editor at the top of the editing pane and select Source Editing.
- Scroll down to the right alphabetical location for the artist (by first name), create a new blank line, and put your cursor there.
- Choose the image icon from the toolbar and then the upload tab.
- Once you've selected your image, click the image policy checkbox and then "Upload."
- On the next screen, change the filename to the correct format if necessary. Click "Save," then "Use this image" on the next screen.
- Enter the artists name (Firstname Lastname) in the caption field and click "Insert." It will insert a text link where your cursor was.
- DELETE THE DOUBLE SQUARE BRACKETS [[ ]] BEFORE AND AFTER THE LINK. YOUR IMAGE WILL NOT SHOW UP OTHERWISE.
- Save your changes and you're done!
Multi-Image (Bulk) Upload[]
- In the editing pane of the Artist Directory, click the eye that says Visual Editor at the top of the editing pane and select Source Editing.
- Put your cursor underneath the NO CHANGES BEFORE THIS LINE comment to insert them in the right place.
- Click the Upload icon (between Image and INSERT on the toolbar) and select or drag your files.
- On the resulting list of files, make any filename changes if you need to and then click "upload all." This will insert a list of file links.
- DELETE THE DOUBLE SQUARE BRACKETS [[ ]] BEFORE AND AFTER THE LINK. YOUR IMAGES WILL NOT SHOW UP OTHERWISE.
- Create captions by using the pipe | symbol (above enter/return on most keyboards) after the file extension, followed by the artist's name. See other items in the page list for an example.
- Cut each line and paste it in the correct alphabetical location (by first name). When all artists have been placed, delete any white space between the first artist and the NO CHANGES comment.
- Save your changes and you're done!
